Sun Kissed

Fine Art Portraiture by Brandon Watts

Kay came to me with a powerful request—she wanted portraits that celebrated her beauty, femininity, and the fullness of her Black identity. From that vision, I stepped into the role of creative director and began shaping a concept that honored every part of who she is.

We styled her afro as a natural crown and used sunflowers as a symbol of her light—vibrant, grounded, and radiant. Every detail of this studio session was planned with purpose—from fabric and lighting to tone and texture.

The result is a visual love letter to softness, strength, and cultural pride.
A portrait series that speaks without saying a word.
Just Kay—bold, feminine, and in full bloom.
